Peter Kurasz, Sr. 98, a resident of Villa Park for sixty-nine years, passed away at his home on June 23rd, 2020. He was the loving husband of the late Marian Kurasz. Proud father of Rick, (Barbara), Beverly, (the late Charles Johnston), the late Peter Jr., (Jean), Michael, (Diane), and Nicholas ll.
Cherished grandfather of Michele Stork (Matt), Rick (Diana), Peter III (Fallon), Nicholas (Erin Marie), Aaron (Lyndsey), Amanda Feeney (Mark), Angela Baum (Andrew), Rachele McDonald, and Katherine.
Great-grandfather of Peter IV (Rachel), Jordann, Danielle, Richard, Quinn, Nolan, Nicholas Jr., Charlotte, Jack, Maeve, Athena, Andrew, Michael, Robert, Layla, and Vivian.
Great-great grandfather of Evelyn.
Peter proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Langley in the Pacific, and during the Korean War aboard the USS New Jersey. His many service awards include the American Theater Medal, the Asian-Pacific Medal with 9 service stars, the Philippine Liberation Medal with 2 service stars, and a World War II Victory Medal.
After serving his country, he began working at Sargeant & Lundy Engineers and retired after 30 years of exemplary employment. In his 80’s he began working at Courts Plus in Elmhurst where he continued to work, and work out, until his second retirement at the age of 95.
Peter and his family moved to Villa Park in 1951. He was a member of St. Alexander’s Church since having moved to Villa Park. He had the distinct honor of having been the oldest member of the Villa Park VFW Post 2801, and was the recipient of the 2015 Villa Park Senior Citizen of the Year award.
