Christopher T. May
Christopher T. May 61, of Elk Grove Village, IL. Beloved husband of Annette nee Whewell. Loving son of the late Alfred and Patricia May. Dear brother of Timothy May. Dear son in law of Billy and Grace Whewell. Brother in law of Bonita (Jerry) Slovinski, Calvin (Carol) Whewell, Yvonne (Patrick) Cloonan, Lydia Whewell, Keela Whewell and Garth (Christy) Whewell. Fond uncle of Joshua and Patrick May, Lauren Price, Nathan, Andrew, Wyatt and Elsie Whewell, Colleen Rerucha, Corinne Mathis, Kelse Kulp, Natalie Slovinski, Neil and Ryan Cloonan. Great uncle of many.
Chris was a funeral director in the DuPage County area for 40 years. Over those years, he helped countless families through the most difficult days of their lives with compassion and grace. He was also a member of the Itasca Lions Club and served as their Treasurer and President. He was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in recognition of his outstanding service to his club and community.
Chris and his brother, Tim, grew up on the Pottawatomie Golf Course in St. Charles, IL spending the entire summer playing round after round of golf. Chris called Pottawatomie “home”, and he had a great group of friends that are truly his Pottawatomie Family. Ask anyone of them about his 8 iron. A group of them made an annual pilgrimage to the Las Vegas area for week of golf and “other” activities. After he returned, he counted down the days until the next trip.
He loved being “Uncle Chris”. He had 13 nieces and nephews that he adored. Each and every one of them would be able to share a special moment that they had with Chris…reading “The Cow in the Kitchen” (complete with sound effects), playing golf, going to a ballgame and so many other fun times.
And, everyone would tell you that they loved his laugh. It was loud and contagious.
Chris and Annette were married for nearly 30 years and cherished every minute of their time together.
