Arthur (Art) Brilliant, of Villa Park, died Saturday, August 26, 2017 following a brief illness, at the age of 89.
He was born in Manitowoc, WI, on March 26, 1928, the son of Arthur and Lucille (nee Dugre) Brilliant. After serving in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, he returned to attend college in Texas and expand his horizons. In 1966 Art married Mary Doris.
Arthur had a great love for gardening, and had gardens for over 45 years! Favorites were tomatoes, peppers and herbs. Art was also an avid cook and baker, and shared his talents with many appreciative friends. A diehard fisherman, he loved angling, also hunting and target shooting. Art loved being creative, and made many useful items to suit his needs. He even received a patent on his Pepper Mill design. Musically he loved Jazz and Classical, and everything between. He was a true renaissance man.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his sons Fred (Nancy) Becht and Gregory Becht. He is further survived by his sisters Priscilla (Earl) Schroeder of De Pere, WI; and Yvonne Brilliant of Milwaukee, WI. Arthur is predeceased by his wife Mary Doris and sisters Betty Esser of Waukesha, WI and Carol Andrew of Winter Haven, FL.
Arthur will be interred at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Please omit flowers
In lieu of flowers, please go out and enjoy a good meal – and lift a glass in Art’s memory.
