Thorvardur M. Stefanson
“Morley” was born January 28, 1938 at the family homestead, “Bakka” in rural Riverton, Manitoba to Helgi and Nancy, brother to Shirley (Alan MacFarlane) and the late Joan (the late Norman Baldwinson. A talented and disciplined student, Morley attended University of Manitoba where he earned a degree in civil engineering. Upon graduation in 1960, he was recruited by Horton Steel Works in Fort Erie, Ontario.
It was in Ontario that he met Margaret Kimber and they married in June 1962. After starting their life and family together in Fort Erie, Morley was relocated to the Chicago area, continuing his over 40 year career at Chicago Bridge & Iron.
Together they provided a loving and comfortable home to their four children: Jennifer (Omar Odland), Margot Jill (Bill Wright), Thomas (Kara Bettisworth) and Andrea (Jeffrey Beckham). He cherished spending time with his eight grandchildren, Patrick and Craig Fanella, Erik and Ellen Wright, Audrey, Ingrid and Evan Beckham and Logan Stefanson.
Morley took quiet pride in his lovely yard and garden at home. Seedlings he started in February will soon grace the flower beds.
He remained a proud Canadian throughout his life and will return to his homeland for a private burial.
