Virginia D. Behm
Virginia “Ginny” D. Behm nee Duyne age 92 of Lombard. Beloved wife of the late Walter P. Behm. Loving mother of Paul (Jan) and Jaclyn Mekemson (Dan). Dearest grandmother of Richard (Michelle) Behm, Christopher (Lindsey) Behm, Erin (Brandon) Atkinson, Matthew (Leah) Mekemson, Kristen (Neil) Mekemson, Andrew (Kallie) Mekemson and treasured great-grandmother of 15 great-grandchildren. Cherished sister of Marie George and fond aunt of many nephews and nieces. Proceeded in death by parents Harry and Agatha Duyne, sister Johanna Reiser, and brother John Duyne.
Ginny was born in Elgin, Illinois on February 28, 1924, the daughter of farmers who emigrated from the Netherlands. In 1942, she became the first in her family to graduate from high school. On October 20, 1945, she married her great love, Walter Behm of Harvard, and they raised Paul and Jacki in the home he built at 142 E. Maple Street, Villa Park. She enjoyed family camping trips, vacationing “Up North” at the cottage in Three Lakes, Wisconsin, and spending time with grandkids and great-grandkids. She was also known as “Bobby” to her loved ones. Some of her favorite things were Wheel of Fortune, pinnacle, butterflies, fashion, tulips, Dutch soup and chocolate shakes from Portillo’s. She will be remembered for living her life in faith, for her beauty, wit and wisdom, and for her warm and loving heart. She is safely in the arms of her dearest Walt and in the care of God.
