Donna Rae Malone (Voelz), Age 78
Of Naples Florida passed away on August 10, 2016 surrounded by those that loved her. Born on February 10, 1938 in Elmhurst, Illinois to the late Mary Jane and Edward Voelz, she grew up in Villa Park, Illinois. Donna Rae graduated from Evanston Hospital School of Nursing with a BSN in Nursing and from University of St. Francis with a Masters in Nursing Administration. She worked for more than 25 years at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL, before moving to Naples, FL in 1991 to work as Administrator of Collier Surgical Center.
She is survived by the love of her life, husband Robert Malone, her three adoring children, Linda (Miller) Gifford, married to Doug, Ron Miller, married to Sandy, and Ted Miller, married to Lisa, her two stepdaughters, Kim (Malone) Johnson, married to Dale, and Karrie (Malone) Braatelien, married to Paul. She was a wonderful grandmother to fourteen grandchildren, Jessica (Jake Koors), Jacquie, Jennifer (Tim Hoepfner), Jake (Caitlin), Josh, Kristina (David Byerly), Hannah, Michael, Skylar, Caleb, Kyle, Roberta, Troy, and Sean, three great-grandchildren, Ryne, Lindsey, Wolfgang, and one more on the way. Cherished sister of Diane (Voelz) Devermann married to Bob. Dear aunt of Bob married to Lucy. Friend of many throughout her lifetime.
Donna Rae was very active in the Faith Lutheran Church, serving as a volunteer for the Women of Faith, and the leader of the Altar Guild. She was president of the Ostomy Support group, and a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved the beach, gardening, crossword puzzles, animals, and her family. She will be remembered for being smart and funny, but mostly a fighter. She refused to give up on her fight against cancer right up until the very end. Donna Rae brought incredible joy to her family and to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. The family asks that you spend time with your loved ones, take a walk on the beach, and make a toast to enduring friendships. That is what Donna Rae would wish for you.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Steuerle Funeral home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave, Villa Park, IL on Friday, August 19 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Ave, Villa Park at 10:30 AM. on Saturday August 20, 2016.
