Edmond E. Ackermann
Edmond E. Ackermann born March 13, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, died December 9, 2012. He was a resident at Belmont Village, Carol Stream, Illinois and formerly of Villa Park, Illinois for 50 years. Ed joined the Navy after graduating high school and served on the U.S.S. Concord in the Pacific during WWII.
He was the first in his family to get a drivers license and a car. He loved traveling the open road, taking long driving vacations or the roads less traveled to work and enjoying the countryside.
He met and married the love of his life, Anna Butrymowicz in Philadelphia, PA. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before her passing in 2010.
Ed started as a pipe fitter after his discharge from the Navy. Most of his work was in the city of Chicago working on construction sites such as the Prudential Building, McCormick Place and O’Hare Airport to name a few. He was a member of Pipe fitters # 597, and a member of Villa Park V.F.W Post # 2801. After retiring, Ed became a volunteer at Elmhurst Hospital from 1991 to 2004 until his eyesight failed.
Building things was Ed’s work and hobby. He could fix almost anything and could build things as big as a tool shed or two-car garage and as small as the houses and nativity manger under our Christmas tree.
Ed enjoyed family, friends and life.
