George Kolak of Villa Park died Friday August 5, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born January 14, 1918 in Chicago. He was the beloved husband of Marianne nee McNulty whom he married August 22, 1942. George grew up in Chicago, was a graduate of Schurz High School and DePaul University. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a navigator/bombardier with the Army Air Corp in China India Burma Theater. He was a long time member of VFW Post #2801 and was an avid gardener. In addition to his wife Marianne, he is survived by his loving children Marianne “Randy” (Terry) Kral, Rosemary (Chuck) Kero, Betty Lou Jones, Nancy (Pat) Feulner, Margaret Ann (Randy) Giagnorio and Donna (Mark) Metzendorf. Grandchildren Cindy (Joe) Bond, Jackie (Joe) Bochenski, Casey Kero, Mike (Tricia) Kero, Tom (Amanda) Kero, Shawna (Reid) Bronson, Patrice Feulner, Jeremy Jones, Kara Jones, Matt Feulner, Kelly Kero, Amy Feulner, Alyssa Feulner, Rachel Giagnorio, Keith Giagnorio, Mary Ellen Metzendorf, Anne Marie Metzendorf, Daniel Metzendorf, Robert Giagnorio and Stephanie Metzendorf. He is also survived by six loving great grandchildren and brother-in-law George McNulty. He was preceded in death by his parents Ella and Stanley Wienckowski and his siblings Gene and Steve Kolak and Mae Scott. Funeral Monday August 8, 2011 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass 10:00 a.m. at St. Alexander Church gathering space, 300 S. Cornell Villa Park, IL. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
